Table Tennis Life
|
The purpose of the Edmonton Table Tennis Club (the “Club” or “ETTC”) is to promote the sport of table tennis in a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment. The Club operates as a non-profit organization dedicated to player development, community engagement, fair play, and sportsmanship.
The Club is incorporated as a non-profit society under the Alberta Societies Act, and operates in compliance with all applicable provincial and federal legislation. The Club is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership.
Membership is open to all individuals regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or ability, provided they agree to abide by Club policies, procedures, and codes of conduct. Membership fees are established annually by the Board.
All members, athletes, coaches, volunteers, officials, and spectators are expected to act with integrity, respect, and sportsmanship. Abusive, discriminatory, or harassing behaviour will not be tolerated (see ETTC Code of Conduct).
Participants must wear appropriate footwear and attire. Unsafe behaviour is prohibited. Injuries, hazards, or incidents must be reported immediately to Club officials.
The Club is committed to safeguarding children and youth. Best practices include appropriate supervision, respectful communication, and zero tolerance for abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
The Club is committed to providing a sport environment free from maltreatment and aligns with Canada’s Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS).
Maltreatment includes psychological, physical, sexual maltreatment, neglect, grooming, bullying, harassment, abuse of power, and retaliation.
All participants share responsibility for maintaining a safe environment and must report maltreatment when it is witnessed or suspected. Reports may be made to a Program Manager, a Board member, or external authorities when required by law.
The Club manages finances responsibly in accordance with the Alberta Societies Act. Funds are used solely for Club purposes. Financial records are maintained and reviewed annually.
This section must be read in conjunction with Section 7. Safe Sport matters take precedence. The Board may impose disciplinary action including warnings, suspension, termination of membership, or referral to authorities. Interim measures may be applied to protect participants.
Volunteers are essential to the Club’s success and are expected to act professionally, respectfully, and in accordance with Club policies.
The Club complies with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Personal information is collected, used, and stored only for legitimate Club purposes.
This manual will be reviewed periodically by the Board, and amended as required to ensure compliance with legislation and best governance practices.
